Designers at IBM drive excellence in employee solutions by successfully merging business and user goals, creating solutions that deliver intuitive user interfaces that increase adoption and drive business success. As a design intern, you will work closely with stakeholders, other talented designers, and others in a multidisciplinary team to design web and mobile solutions for the Global IBM user audience. Designers are responsible for various tasks associated with user research, UX design, content design, and visual design on both large and small scale solutions working independently or with a team of UX professionals to create assets that reflect a brand, enforce a language, and delight the user. Designers are involved with the project throughout the design and development cycle and works closely with the client, local and/or virtual teams to ensure standards of excellence.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
 
  • Demonstrated knowledge in Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, and other design tools 
  • Demonstrated knowledge in Sketch, Balsamqic, Azure, Invision, and other wireframing and prototyping tools
  • Portfolio of previous projects and work products produced (link included in application)
  • Knowledge of user-centered design principles
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and remain flexible through multiple revisions, while maintaining attention to detail
  • Completed at least 3 years of a 4 year degree program

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience
  • Solid understanding of technical concepts and constraints
  • Master’s degree in Visual Design, Graphics Design, Digital or Visual Communications, Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Experience Design, Human Factors, or a related field
